My first meeting with Bob was as a result of his wife Carol having a booth at Antiqueland on Hwy 20 in Madison Alabama. My daughter Jennifer and her then husband Anthony had taken the building and business over from me and they managed about sixty booths.
As the Commanding General of the Redstone Arsenal at that time Bob and Carol were limited to social contact principally within the military. They explained that in his position they could not socialise with other major residents in the Huntsville area due to the fact that most of these people ran the Defence Contracting Corporations that were the backbone of the Huntsville economy. My family were totally outside that group and Bob and Carol and Judy and I became regular Bridge players. Bob and I played a great deal of tennis together
