While visiting a well-known audio critic, Burnett-James who lived just off Putney Hill I saw out of his window the construction of some new houses which looked interesting. When i mentioned them to Burnett-James he commented that they were so small that a wheelbarrow plonged in the middle of the house more or less filled it up! Nevertheless with my shop in Kensington High Street Putney was much closer than Eton. I bought number 18?
