Alex Rosner

I came to meet with Alex as a result of selling him Revox Tape recorders. He had a business (Rosner Custom Sound) in Long Island City doing amongst other things, discotheque sound installations. There are references to his work on Wikipedia under”The Loft” and in regard to his work on specialised audio mixers for discotheques.

Understanding beat, tempo and pitch (particularly the last two) was also the focus of much of what Gerry Rodgers (P) researched as recounted elsewhere on this site in Referenced People.

Many years after leaving Long Island and re-locating in Alabama I saw the film Schindler’s List and during the part where stones are left on graves I was shocked to see Alex holding the hand of one of the boy actors. I called him and asked which of the boys in the film was, in fact, him.

“I was the one who jumped into the latrine” he replied.
