I am no longer sure as to how I came to meet Andre Axford. He was living in Princes Risborough at the time and it might have been following a programme mounted by two journalists who wanted to expose certain activities that they felt justified an airing. The programme was called “The Fixer”.
Andre Axford was “The Fixer”. His country of interest was Albania.
Andre wanted me to see the opportunities in Albania and a trip was arranged.
That visit was interesting and I soon picked up on the parallels with Russia as an ex-communist state, but the biggest surprise of all was the popularity of Norman Wisdom in Albania where he was truly loved as “Pitkin” – the comedian.
Andre’s suitcase was loaded with “Putkin” tapes which were almost a currency in that country.
